Danylo Bandera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Georg Vallin made a huge save. Georg Vallin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Illja Klochko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 6 minutes into the match, Illja Klochko dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Georg Vallin, 1-0. 10 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's Roy Bennet sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andriy Trubin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Danylo Lobanovsjkyi thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Andriy Trubin, a very annoying self made goal in the 12th minute which led to 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roy Bennet in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andriy Trubin saved FC Ruh Lviv from getting behind. 20 minutes into the match, FC Ruh Lviv's goal looked a bit too open when Roy Bennet came free, but Andriy Trubin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Protegéerna's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olof Löfkvist in the 22nd minute. After a rather tough play, Protegéerna's Holger Lekberg got a free kick in the 26th minute. Protegéerna were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after FC Ruh Lviv's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Olof Löfkvist took the corner. A collision led to Protegéerna getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Fredrik Billberg hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Myroslav Akymenko to strike the kick off in the second half. Magnus Gustavsson hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 53 played minutes, FC Ruh Lviv's Vyacheslav Androsenko shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Georg Vallin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Ruh Lviv reached it. In the 53rd match minute, Protegéerna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fredrik Billberg to maneuver through the defense. Protegéerna's Fredrik Billberg quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Danylo Lobanovsjkyi, made in the 58th minute of the game. In the 66th minute of the match FC Ruh Lviv got a corner. Protegéerna's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vyacheslav Androsenko ran over to the corner to take the kick. When FC Ruh Lviv's Myroslav Akymenko in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Protegéerna's goalie prevented a goal. Protegéerna made a substitution. Charlie Apelquist replaced Alexander Lundström. Georg Vallin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Myroslav Akymenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The supporters of FC Ruh Lviv booed when Protegéerna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bo-Erik Springfält didn't get a good kick on the ball. Georg Vallin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Lytvynchuk in the 88th minute of play. Andriy Trubin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven Skark, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Illja Klochko fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Ruh Lviv's protests and gave Illja Klochko a yellow card for diving instead. Illja Klochko hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Protegéerna were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over FC Ruh Lviv's much stronger midfield.
