Johan Arvidsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chiquinho Vasconcelos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johan Arvidsson ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johan Arvidsson during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 12 played minutes IFK Tallkotte got a freekick which was hit by Johan Arvidsson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clemente Lopes in the 14th minute of play forced IFK Tallkotte's goalkeeper John Zachrisson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johan Arvidsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Eriberto Esteves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of John Zachrisson. IFK Tallkotte's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eriberto Esteves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Eriberto Esteves hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the match, IFK Tallkotte's Staffan Ekström sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chiquinho Vasconcelos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 35 played minutes Botafogo AP got a freekick which was hit by André Luís Trigo. After 39 played minutes IFK Tallkotte got a freekick which was hit by Rasmus Ahlqvist. After the first half Botafogo AP were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Staffan Ekström made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Staffan Ekström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquinho Vasconcelos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, IFK Tallkotte's goalkeeper John Zachrisson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clemente Lopes. After 55 minutes, Staffan Ekström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the IFK Tallkotte and the Botafogo AP players grew even worse after the yellow card. Amílton Motta hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Frank Goiano replaced José Pedro Coelho. The supporters of IFK Tallkotte booed when Botafogo AP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amílton Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Botafogo AP defense, Johan Arvidsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chiquinho Vasconcelos. The Botafogo AP fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chiquinho Vasconcelos should have stopped the shot. Botafogo AP's Mané Souza was substituted for Clóvis das Neves. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Clemente Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo AP's supporters rose to their feet, but Clemente Lopes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John Zachrisson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 83 minutes into the game, Botafogo AP's André Luís Trigo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. John Zachrisson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Humberto Maia replaced André Luís Trigo. In the 89th minute, Humberto Maia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. John Zachrisson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Humberto Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Zachrisson having to interfere.
