Spectators: 7536 (Terracing: 5653, Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mingo Torrente kicked off to start the match. After 6 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Melquiades Segio. 12 minutes into the match, Ciclista FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mingo Torrente came free, but Crişan Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cirilo Goren charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cirilo Goren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Cirilo Goren hit a great ball. In the 17th minute of the match Amador Francesco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alberto Txurio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Crişan Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mingo Torrente in the 22nd minute of play. Severo Poz hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Cenan Savlet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Alberto Txurio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Severo Poz fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Severo Poz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th match minute, Newells Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severo Poz to maneuver through the defense. When Jorge Lizar fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Jorge Lizar a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Jorge Lizar hit a great ball. Alberto Txurio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cenan Savlet, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Lv Ang Si recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 35th minute of the match Severo Poz completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Severo Poz a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Severo Poz hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Cenan Savlet came free, but Alberto Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lv Ang Si sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alberto Txurio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lv Ang Si in the 42nd minute of play. Lv Ang Si might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberto Txurio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lv Ang Si ran back to his position shaking his head. Cenan Savlet took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alberto Txurio. Alberto Txurio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some careless play in the Newells Old Boys defense, Lv Ang Si kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Txurio. The Newells Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Txurio should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mingo Torrente in the 55th minute of play forced Ciclista FC's goalkeeper Crişan Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cenan Savlet in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alberto Txurio saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. With a little luck, Newells Old Boys's Alberto Txurio got control of the ball when Lv Ang Si tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cenan Savlet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alberto Txurio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Cenan Savlet came free, but Alberto Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 68 played minutes Ciclista FC got a freekick which was hit by Amador Francesco. Crişan Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anacleto Clementi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Jerrald kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Ciclista FC's Alberto Txurio threw himself towards the right post 81 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cenan Savlet, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Cenan Savlet came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Ciclista FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cenan Savlet couldn't finish the play. 86 minutes into the game, Lv Ang Si lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Alberto Txurio. 96 minutes into the game, Justo Osorio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ciclista FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newells Old Boys the free kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ciclista FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
