Spectators: 7511 (Terracing: 5634, Seating: 1727, VIP seats: 150) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Angel Gervaso made the kick off which started today's match. Guillermo Ovando hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After 12 minutes ♫♫ OB®E®OS ♫♫'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mingo Torrente who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Newells Old Boys's Mingo Torrente to fire away a dangerous shot which Roman Kolobov despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Anacleto Clementi got free in front of the goal in the 15th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Roman Kolobov was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Angel Gervaso notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Newells Old Boys's Alberto Txurio. Alberto Txurio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rogelio Duarte hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After 33 minutes, Angel Gervaso made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Newells Old Boys's Alberto Txurio tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Angel Gervaso kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Roman Kolobov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mingo Torrente in the 36th minute of play. If Mingo Torrente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roman Kolobov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Anacleto Clementi in the 46th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Nestor Tabb got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Eustaquio Frechoso hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Guillermo Ovando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Roman Kolobov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd match minute, Newells Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Ovando to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Txurio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angel Gervaso's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. After having played for 70 minutes, Mingo Torrente managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells Old Boys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mingo Torrente was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 80thth minute of the game Fernan Eate who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells Old Boys's Alberto Txurio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Angel Gervaso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Angel Gervaso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Txurio having to interfere. ♫♫ OB®E®OS ♫♫ played a much better game than Newells Old Boys and deserved their victory. The Newells Old Boys players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
