Aris Kounadakis started the match with the kick off. The supporters of REAL VASCO RIO booed when Tirant lo Blanch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barto Arratia didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Aris Kounadakis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Percival Prestes, 1-0. With a little luck, REAL VASCO RIO's Percival Prestes got control of the ball when Aris Kounadakis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eriberto Segura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Fernandes in the 19th minute of the match. After 20 minutes of play, REAL VASCO RIO's Gláuber Cardozo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eriberto Segura was left in no man's land by his defense there! 23 minutes into the game, Mergildo Pascua was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tirant lo Blanch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave REAL VASCO RIO the free kick. Mergildo Pascua hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 26th match minute, Tirant lo Blanch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Giner to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute, Horácio Pires hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. REAL VASCO RIO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by José Pedro Simão in the 34th minute. When Nando Gaspar fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored REAL VASCO RIO's protests and gave Nando Gaspar a yellow card for diving instead. Aris Kounadakis might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Percival Prestes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aris Kounadakis ran back to his position shaking his head. Eriberto Segura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gláuber Cardozo in the 41st minute of the match.

In the 53rd minute Alfredo Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Segura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, REAL VASCO RIO's goal looked a bit too open when Aris Kounadakis came free, but Percival Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Percival Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aris Kounadakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 69th minute, Jocelyn Angloma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute José Pedro Simão managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. REAL VASCO RIO's Percival Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aris Kounadakis in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to REAL VASCO RIO getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Nando Gaspar hit a great ball. In the 90th minute Aris Kounadakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percival Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tirant lo Blanch were awarded a corner in the 92th minute after REAL VASCO RIO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jocelyn Angloma took the corner. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
