An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Cerezo in the 3rd minute of play forced Chanchos's goalkeeper Gervasio Dei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Basílio do Valle sped through Chanchos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gervasio Dei. The supporters of SE Palmeiras booed when Chanchos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Ursino didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Basílio do Valle in the 33rd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Gervasio Dei's left hand side. 35 minutes into the game, SE Palmeiras's Ian Cerezo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gervasio Dei made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Gervasio Dei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Aparecido, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Gervasio Dei didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Basílio do Valle went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Zé Augusto Luz scored 0-5 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gervasio Dei, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

The wind increased when Ian Cerezo made the kick off in the second half. Basílio do Valle took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gervasio Dei. Gervasio Dei dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. After a defensive mix-up in Chanchos's zone, Ian Cerezo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gervasio Dei came out of the goal and Ian Cerezo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gervasio Dei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ian Cerezo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Oalo in the 69th minute of play forced SE Palmeiras's goalkeeper Nilson Dracena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Augusto Luz charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 87th minute Rosendo Estevez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilson Dracena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle sounded SE Palmeiras left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Chanchos.
