An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Ghiondea in the 26th minute of play forced Chelsea Football Club's goalkeeper Anacleto Costante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Ivan Txeru fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nicodim Arghirescu, passed just outside the right post. After a rather tough play, Chelsea Football Club's David Sein got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute, Codrin Aalexoaiei got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Carpathian Wolves booed when Chelsea Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Acevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Baldomiro Sabino fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelsea Football Club's protests and gave Baldomiro Sabino a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 played minutes Chelsea Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Baldomiro Sabino. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doru Ghiondea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Felipe Acevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Nicodim Arghirescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carpathian Wolves's Nicodim Arghirescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgilio Bihar in the 87th minute of play. Nicodim Arghirescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Acevedo in the 89th minute of the match. In the 95th minute Manuel Heriberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Arghirescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Carpathian Wolves players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
