The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dé Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Bertassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. José Maria Rosa hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 9 minutes into the match, Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's goalkeeper Dé Souza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emerson da Fonseca. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edson Araújo in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Walmyr Pinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 16 minutes into the game, Edson Araújo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Walmyr Pinho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. José Maria Rosa came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dé Souza could save by the left post. After 23 minutes Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adelino Freitas who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Edson Araújo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Walmyr Pinho was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Luisinho Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's supporters rose to their feet, but Luisinho Ramalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Pinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's Dé Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG from getting a goal against them. Orlando Bertassi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 43 minutes, Emerson da Fonseca made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's Dé Souza tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Edson Araújo might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Walmyr Pinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edson Araújo ran back to his position shaking his head. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

A collision led to Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Edson Araújo hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute, Emerson da Fonseca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dé Souza was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Walmyr Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edson Araújo in the 55th minute. José Pedro Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luisinho Ramalho struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Walmyr Pinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG. Dé Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emerson da Fonseca in the 66th minute of play. After having played for 71 minutes, Orlando Bertassi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MALAIA FDFDF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Bertassi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 72nd match minute, Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fabiano Vides to maneuver through the defense. If Luís Fernando Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to MALAIA FDFDF getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. José Maria Rosa hit a great ball. In the 83rd minute José Maria Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dé Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe da Mata was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 86 minutes into the match. After 88 minutes Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adelino Freitas who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to MALAIA FDFDF's Luís Fernando Sampaio getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, MALAIA FDFDF could leave the field as winners, despite Grajaú Uai Sôccer MG having more of the ball for most of the match.
