Feliberto Unai started the match with the kick off. Romeu Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliberto Unai in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Nouvelle Vague was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walter Abacha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gualterio Socorro made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Hudson Sabóia sent off a good shot on target. Gualterio Socorro was out of position in the 8 minute of play, and Fernandinho Urbano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fernandinho Urbano really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Romeu Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliberto Unai in the 13th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Urbano in the 18th minute of play forced Nouvelle Vague's goalkeeper Gualterio Socorro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edmílson Matorin got free with Gualterio Socorro in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Edmílson Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Fernandinho Urbano made a precise shot to the right of Gualterio Socorro. Nouvelle Vague's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Urbano in the 34th minute of play forced Nouvelle Vague's goalkeeper Gualterio Socorro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nouvelle Vague were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Corinthians's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ignacio Arnas took the corner. Romeu Souto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucio Caetano, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After having played for 43 minutes, Lucio Caetano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nouvelle Vague's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucio Caetano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Nouvelle Vague was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Froilan Ederono didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fernandinho Urbano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Gualterio Socorro made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Fernandinho Urbano made the kick off in the second half. After 50 minutes, Fabricio Frechoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nouvelle Vague and the Corinthians players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fabricio Frechoso hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. In the 58th minute of the match Nouvelle Vague got a corner. Corinthians's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ignacio Arnas ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucio Caetano in the 62nd minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Romeu Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmílson Matorin in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gualterio Socorro saved Nouvelle Vague from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fernandinho Urbano in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gualterio Socorro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Corinthians's Romeu Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucio Caetano in the 69th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Feliberto Unai got free with Romeu Souto in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Corinthians's Romeu Souto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Corinthians from getting a goal against them. In the 78th match minute, Nouvelle Vague was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisito Bernal to maneuver through the defense. Romeu Souto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Feliberto Unai in the 81st minute. 82 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goalkeeper Romeu Souto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Feliberto Unai. Feliberto Unai could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Romeu Souto made a huge save. Romeu Souto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Feliberto Unai in the 84th minute. Romeu Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucio Caetano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Lucio Caetano came free, but Romeu Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute of the match, Feliberto Unai got a very nice opportunity to score, but Romeu Souto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 95th minute Lucio Caetano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Corinthians fully deserved thier win.
