The coaching staff of Liga de Quito protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Vidal Cismado had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The goalkeeper, Tomas Pando, was totally fooled by Delphine Stars's Marcel Cristache, who 20 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Costel Cobzeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomas Pando having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomas Pando showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 48th minute, Nestor Ibaute hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Delphine Stars's Emanuel Tiberiu got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emanuel Tiberiu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Emanuel Tiberiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomas Pando was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Petruț Ţopescu came out of the goal and Nestor Ibaute tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 97th minute Cristian Dorian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomas Pando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
