The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giannis Tzanetos during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Boca Juniors booed when ΟΦΗ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Kalkavouras didn't get a good kick on the ball. Giannis Tzanetos hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Theofanis Marinakis made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Calle Hellström sent off a good shot on target. In the 15th minute of the match Boca Juniors got a corner. ΟΦΗ's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Orlondo Buendia ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Boca Juniors's corner Orlondo Buendia fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Theofanis Marinakis quite easily take care of the ball. Antonis Papagrigoriou kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of ΟΦΗ booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ildefonso Laredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Babbis Prokos fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ΟΦΗ's protests and gave Babbis Prokos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28th minute, Babbis Prokos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Piotrek Czerniak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Theofanis Marinakis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 37 minutes ΟΦΗ's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Orlondo Buendia who took care of the corner kick. After having played for 44 minutes, Piotrek Czerniak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Piotrek Czerniak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Piotrek Czerniak made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fanis Kokkinopoulos during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 54thth minute of the game Piotrek Czerniak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ΟΦΗ's Theofanis Marinakis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Calle Hellström hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Piotrek Czerniak got a free kick in the 60th minute. When Minas Tsalamagas fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ΟΦΗ's protests and gave Minas Tsalamagas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th minute, Calle Hellström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Themis Seitaridis's late challenge caught a Boca Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Themis Seitaridis helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes ΟΦΗ got a freekick which was hit by Themis Seitaridis. Theofanis Marinakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calle Hellström, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. In the 87th minute of the match Caton Carballido sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Theofanis Marinakis skillfully saved the ball. Nikos Kalkavouras recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 92nd minute of the match Minas Tsalamagas completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Minas Tsalamagas a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to ΟΦΗ getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Minas Tsalamagas hit a great ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Boca Juniors had played much better football throughout.
