Afonsinho Aguiar hit a great ball. λᴠαηᴛє ғᴄ.ᴿˢ•ᴮR's Edvaldo Brasil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulizes Sola in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute Sidnei Trancoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Huarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto Medeiros in the 32nd minute of play. Walter Huarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Dani Galiana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 35 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Ruperto Ufret. Walter Huarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Vides in the 36th minute of play. With 39 minutes on the clock, Jacinto Miruena commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 38 minutes into the game, one of Astillero del Guayas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 40th minute there was a penalty for λᴠαηᴛє ғᴄ.ᴿˢ•ᴮR. Gilberto Medeiros stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Walter Huarte. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dani Galiana to make the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Astillero del Guayas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Javier Landeras to maneuver through the defense. Dani Galiana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edvaldo Brasil having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Javier Landeras got a free kick in the 77th minute. Edvaldo Brasil came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Astillero del Guayas's Zarando Eguizabal. But to his dismay, Zarando Eguizabal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The supporters of λᴠαηᴛє ғᴄ.ᴿˢ•ᴮR booed when Astillero del Guayas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dani Galiana didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 93 played minutes λᴠαηᴛє ғᴄ.ᴿˢ•ᴮR got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Vides. Dani Galiana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edvaldo Brasil having to interfere. λᴠαηᴛє ғᴄ.ᴿˢ•ᴮR's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
