Rodrigo Enol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Qusif Zamanov in the 20th minute of play. In the 22ndth minute of the game Maxime De Cuyper who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Şamaxı Bankirlər's Péter Čech was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Brujas KV booed when Şamaxı Bankirlər was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Berdaitz in the 59th minute of play forced Şamaxı Bankirlər's goalkeeper Péter Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Maxime De Cuyper managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brujas KV's supporters rose to their feet, but Maxime De Cuyper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Péter Čech breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
