Mainumby's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Gustavo Braga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 27th minute, one of AFC - Curitiba:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for AFC - Curitiba. In the 34th minute, Armando Beltza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Allan Furlan hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute, Rigoberto Santxol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute Gilmar Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Gau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Honorato Omero in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Celsinho Vander prevented the ball from getting in the gole. AFC - Curitiba's Celsinho Vander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Honorato Omero in the 67th minute of play. If Jano Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to AFC - Curitiba getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Allan Furlan hit a great ball. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
