Rubens Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonzalo Regis having to interfere. After 32 minutes, Santos Montel made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. BURITIS FC's Gustavo Unai tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Santos Montel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Unai read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play.
