NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Rigoberto Jakobe scored to the left of an out of position Apolo Richie, making the score, 4-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The wind increased when Filiberto Ponc made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Quebracho FC defense, Reynaldo Sabin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paolo Abastas. The Quebracho FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paolo Abastas should have stopped the shot. Apolo Richie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filiberto Ponc in the 58th minute of the match. When Reynaldo Sabin fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's protests and gave Reynaldo Sabin a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Quebracho FC booed when NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reynaldo Sabin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 94 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Albano Asteri. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Quebracho FC had played much better football throughout.
