With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pedro Efren in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walter Fransson saved Fire Devils from getting behind. Damian Rito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Walter Fransson made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 35 minutes, Walter Fransson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Alvarado de Mar del Plata's Teodosio Macerio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Bleyer in the 38th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Fire Devils's Francis Aberle got a free kick in the 46th minute. Damian Rito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Fire Devils were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Loris Hellmüller got free with Teodosio Macerio in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th match minute, Fire Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martial Schwersenz to maneuver through the defense. Franco Verdon was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 65 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute, one of Fire Devils:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Fire Devils.
