An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Santana in the 19th minute of play forced Leon Sport Club's goalkeeper Victor Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 minutes of play, Santa Maradona's Octavio Txurio made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-8 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luis Santana was the one to do the kick off. César Ferreira might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tor Rosenlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. César Ferreira ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 98th minute Rony Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Rosenlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Leon Sport Club fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Santa Maradona were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
