Carlos Alberto Simão was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 24th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Errando in the 29th minute of play forced SRP-Laguna's goalkeeper Faustão Custódio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Hilario Petrigai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Augusto de Moraes might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hilario Petrigai. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Augusto de Moraes ran back to his position shaking his head. Nilmar do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
