The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Basílio Veloso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Váldson Dias during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Váldson Dias was shown his second yellow card after 23 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luciano Presebal to make the kick off. The coaching staff of Argentinos Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Roberto Trotta had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.
