In the 7th minute of the match Redas Merkelis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cássio Aguiar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Geležinis Vilkas booed when Alvinegro Carioca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alvinegro Carioca's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Valentas Bizauskas scored to the left of an out of position Cássio Aguiar, making the score, 1-1. Kristupas Kirkutis hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Cássio Aguiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romualdas Karalius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cássio Aguiar made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Valentas Bizauskas sent off a good shot on target. Tadeu Sarmento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Wágner Miranda in the 59th minute of play forced Geležinis Vilkas's goalkeeper Aldas Saulis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Geležinis Vilkas booed when Alvinegro Carioca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Augusto Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aldas Saulis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvinho Brodel in the 66th minute of the match. Aldas Saulis was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlos Augusto Sampaio showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 74 minute of play. Geležinis Vilkas's Romualdas Karalius got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 83 played minutes Alvinegro Carioca got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldão de Carvalho. Kristupas Kirkutis hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. 87 minutes into the game, Alvinegro Carioca's José Augusto Quirino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aldas Saulis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Alvinegro Carioca eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
