In the 29th match minute, Alvinegro Carioca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeu Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the FC Philotimo defense, Hermínio Ferraz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matias Morquecho. The FC Philotimo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matias Morquecho should have stopped the shot. 84 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's Hermínio Ferraz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matias Morquecho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hermínio Ferraz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matias Morquecho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. The Alvinegro Carioca players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
