Du Jian Chen took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yalçın Olgunay. Yalçın Olgunay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 10th minute, La Mora CAT's Du Jian Chen dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Du Jian Chen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yalçın Olgunay. That made the score 3-0 in the 13 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Kaká in the 17th minute of play forced La Mora CAT's goalkeeper Şenol Güneş to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. La Mora CAT's Şenol Güneş played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artun Şenyurt in the 19th minute of play. Muhsin Taze hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Yalçın Olgunay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Seve Grau in the 27th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wayne Rooney got free with Yalçın Olgunay in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind La Mora CAT's goalkeeper Şenol Güneş, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Du Jian Chen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The La Mora CAT fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Severino Coutinho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yalçın Olgunay. That made the score 5-0 in the 38 minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Du Jian Chen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yalçın Olgunay. Blue Mountain State's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Du Jian Chen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. In the 44th minute Du Jian Chen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yalçın Olgunay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yalçın Olgunay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Coutinho in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wayne Rooney to make the kick off. Yalçın Olgunay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Du Jian Chen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Blue Mountain State defense, Wayne Rooney kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yalçın Olgunay. The Blue Mountain State fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yalçın Olgunay should have stopped the shot. Necati Eripek struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Şenol Güneş didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Blue Mountain State. 59 minutes into the match, Blue Mountain State's goal looked a bit too open when Seve Grau came free, but Yalçın Olgunay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yalçın Olgunay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yalçın Olgunay came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by La Mora CAT's Severino Coutinho. But to his dismay, Severino Coutinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. La Mora CAT's Frank Alvarenga was substituted for Etor Benito. Yalçın Olgunay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severino Coutinho went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 9-0 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the match, Wayne Rooney notched a goal, 10-0, to the right of Blue Mountain State's Yalçın Olgunay. Yalçın Olgunay was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Du Jian Chen scored 11-0 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yalçın Olgunay, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 87 minutes of play, La Mora CAT's Severino Coutinho made it 13-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Yalçın Olgunay was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the Blue Mountain State defense, Du Jian Chen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yalçın Olgunay. The Blue Mountain State fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yalçın Olgunay should have stopped the shot. Yalçın Olgunay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severino Coutinho went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 15-0 was the resulting score. 96 minutes into the game, Seve Grau cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 16-0. Yalçın Olgunay was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that La Mora CAT were the better team. La Mora CAT's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
