Leopoldo Trigo was a little too slow when Steve Vaid got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 12th minute. The score was now 1-0. Hamílton Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leopoldo Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Luis Dittborn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the game, Serginho Lopez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Inter de Munique's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de Chillán the free kick. Steve Vaid might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Trigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steve Vaid ran back to his position shaking his head. Giuseppe Meazza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leopoldo Trigo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Leopoldo Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Meazza in the 30th minute of the match. After 32 minutes Inter de Munique's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Arnaldo Detmer who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Inter de Chillán's corner Arnaldo Detmer fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Leopoldo Trigo quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steve Vaid in the 34th minute of play forced Inter de Munique's goalkeeper Leopoldo Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute Inter de Chillán were awarded a corner. Arnaldo Detmer went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, Inter de Chillán's Jose Manuel Aguiar got a free kick in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Juan Luis Dittborn made a kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Juan Luis Dittborn sped through Inter de Munique's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Leopoldo Trigo. A hard shot 56 in the game by Rubinho Munhoz from a close distance when the talented José Ignacio Rocha managed to make a qualified save. Inter de Chillán's players were relieved. Inter de Chillán's Juan Luis Alfaro was substituted for Juan Luis Dittborn. Inter de Chillán made a substitution. Francisco Lacunza replaced Giuseppe Meazza. Leopoldo Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Luis Alfaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. José Ignacio Rocha made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Rubinho Munhoz sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Inter de Munique's Dênis de Sena got a free kick in the 90th minute. In the 92nd minute, Wilian Loureiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 93 minutes, Francisco Lacunza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de Chillán's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Lacunza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rubinho Munhoz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of José Ignacio Rocha when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Inter de Munique's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
