The tension between the SÉ SE and the Poli Timisoara players grew even worse after the yellow card. 11 minutes into the game, one of Poli Timisoara:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Thomas Schmuck stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Patrik Kádár's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrik Kádár in the 95th minute of play forced Poli Timisoara's goalkeeper Thomas Schmuck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SÉ SE fans cheered their team off the field, for while Poli Timisoara had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
