After 4 minutes, Erkan Fostiropoulos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rot-Weiss-Essen and the Brasiliense FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erkan Fostiropoulos to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Brasiliense FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Paulo dos Santos hit a great ball. Ebbo Böse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 11th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Björn Mokros to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavi Haberer during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Xavi Haberer hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Edinho Fernandez took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uwe Ziege. Uwe Ziege dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Geovani Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Brasiliense FC's zone, Elmar Assing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Narciso Abreu came out of the goal and Elmar Assing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th minute, Erkan Fostiropoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uwe Ziege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 30 minutes into the game, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Erkan Fostiropoulos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Narciso Abreu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 34 minutes into the game, Vasco Jackisch was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brasiliense FC the free kick. The supporters of Brasiliense FC booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasco Jackisch didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute, Geovani Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute, Erkan Fostiropoulos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 47th minute Ebbo Böse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tadeu Custódio to strike the kick off in the second half. Geovani Oliveira hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Narciso Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erkan Fostiropoulos in the 62nd minute of play. Narciso Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ebbo Böse, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Tadeu Custódio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brasiliense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tadeu Custódio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Uwe Ziege breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tadeu Custódio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Ebbo Böse notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Brasiliense FC's Narciso Abreu. Narciso Abreu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Hugo Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brasiliense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Porto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Uwe Ziege breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Falcão Azevedo kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brasiliense FC's goalkeeper Narciso Abreu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Erkan Fostiropoulos was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Brasiliense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Oliveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Xavi Haberer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Narciso Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ebbo Böse, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Ebbo Böse put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Narciso Abreu. Narciso Abreu came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Vasco Jackisch. But to his dismay, Vasco Jackisch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-1. Rot-Weiss-Essen's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
