Jenipapo SC's Donato Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barrie Newell in the 26th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Clapham Comets F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Magalhães came free, but Felix Beat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Beat having to interfere. Barrie Newell scored 1-1 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Donato Nascimento, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristiano Marquez to make the kick off.
