In the 19th minute Mateusz Madej shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gusztáv Jászberényi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a left leg Bogdan Miecznikowski saved FA Sandtown from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Szombathely Squirrels's zone, Károly Tolnay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gusztáv Jászberényi came out of the goal and Károly Tolnay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 46 minutes, Szilárd Csikós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Szilárd Csikós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Balázs Pálinkás was the one to do the kick off.
