Carlos Dufresne ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Dufresne struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Ionel Panaitoiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Stadtclub. 21 minutes into the match, Phoenix Strikers's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Dufresne came free, but Ionel Panaitoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Dufresne in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ionel Panaitoiu saved Phoenix Strikers from getting behind. After 24 minutes of play, FC Stadtclub's Yannick Walpert made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ionel Panaitoiu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Phoenix Strikers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Stadtclub the free kick. After 38 played minutes Phoenix Strikers got a freekick which was hit by Denis Brânzaș. Ionel Panaitoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Dufresne in the 39th minute of play. After 41 minutes, Federico Wagner mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Stadtclub and the Phoenix Strikers players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Horaţiu Dinulescu made a kick off.
