The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Ripa FC got a freekick which was hit by Ildefonso Bordat. Elói Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Confesor in the 9th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Cássio Aparecido got a free kick in the 9th minute. Hristo Stoichkov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elói Senna having to interfere. Elói Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogelio Confesor, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 20th minute, Rogelio Confesor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the game, Severino Falcão recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Simon Martxelin. Severino Falcão showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Torres Mo kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Ripa FC's Marco Elivareo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nova Iguaçu MZFC. 33 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Rogelio Confesor came free, but Elói Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elói Senna stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rogelio Confesor's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Severino Falcão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Simon Martxelin made a huge save. Ripa FC's Hristo Stoichkov got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 39 minutes into the game, Rogelio Confesor cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Elói Senna was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 43rd minute, Hristo Stoichkov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elói Senna was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 47 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Hristo Stoichkov came free, but Elói Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Fábio Leme's late challenge caught a Ripa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fábio Leme helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fábio Leme to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rogelio Confesor to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Ripa FC's Rogelio Confesor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Elói Senna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Elói Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Confesor in the 57th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, Severino Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Torres Mo kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Marco Elivareo, 60 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Elói Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Confesor in the 62nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Confesor in the 66th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Elói Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elói Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogelio Confesor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th minute of the match Marco Elivareo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elói Senna skillfully saved the ball. Rogelio Confesor kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Severino Falcão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Simon Martxelin. Ripa FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Severino Falcão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 84th minute Cássio Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Martxelin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rogelio Confesor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Elói Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simon Martxelin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Falcão in the 90th minute of play. Arlindo Madureira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Simon Martxelin. Ripa FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Ripa FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
