After a rather tough play, Cavalerii Viola's Remus Vrejiu got a free kick in the 38th minute. Osmar de Moraes kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Robert Scorţea came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Goiás Esporte Clube's Edgard Cabral. But to his dismay, Edgard Cabral quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.

The supporters of Cavalerii Viola booed when Goiás Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilmar Secco didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Edgard Cabral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Robert Scorţea was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgard Cabral in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Robert Scorţea saved Cavalerii Viola from getting behind. In the 80th minute, Edgard Cabral fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Robert Scorţea, passed just outside the right post. 85 minutes into the game, Jarbas Brito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goiás Esporte Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cavalerii Viola the free kick. Edgard Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Scorţea having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Cavalerii Viola's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Cabral came free, but Robert Scorţea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Robert Scorţea managed to avoid a goal in the 94thth minute, when Goiás Esporte Clube's Christian Carioca fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Cabral in the 96th minute of play forced Cavalerii Viola's goalkeeper Robert Scorţea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
