Mané Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Ove Strömbom, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven-Ove Strömbom in the 13th minute of play forced Goiás Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Mané Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 39th minute by Birger Rosendal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Birger Rosendal's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Mané Quirino skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Kåre Blom came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Goiás Esporte Clube's Jarbas Brito. But to his dismay, Jarbas Brito quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The Goiás Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mané Quirino should have stopped the shot.
