Luciano Urki's late challenge caught a Colo-Colo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luciano Urki helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Colo-Colo booed when San Lorenzo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luciano Urki didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 11 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Oscar Opazo. Marino Sadin was a little too slow when Celedonio Cordareo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 12th minute. The score was now 1-0. Anier Oidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucho Pérez, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Anier Oidor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manolito Neira in the 19th minute of play. Colo-Colo's Marino Sadin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Colo-Colo from getting a goal against them. Anier Oidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexis Ardizzoni, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Alexis Ardizzoni took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anier Oidor. Anier Oidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manolito Neira in the 31st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manolito Neira in the 38th minute of play forced San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Anier Oidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, one of San Lorenzo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for San Lorenzo. Alexis Ardizzoni walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 44th minute Alexis Ardizzoni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Oidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manolito Neira to strike the kick off in the second half. Alexis Ardizzoni's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anier Oidor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. San Lorenzo's Anier Oidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manolito Neira in the 57th minute of play. Alexis Ardizzoni could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Anier Oidor made a huge save. Victor Belmiro kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Alexis Ardizzoni came free with the goalkeeper in the 67th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Anier Oidor could save by the left post. In the 68th minute Colo-Colo were awarded a corner. Koča Mendoza went to the cornerflag to take it. Koča Mendoza made a great header on Colo-Colo's corner, it was just that San Lorenzo's Anier Oidor managed to reach the ball for a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Alexis Ardizzoni kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Anier Oidor. That made the score 1-3 in the 70 minute of play. San Lorenzo's Anier Oidor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save San Lorenzo from getting a goal against them. Marino Sadin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celestino Toro in the 74th minute of the match. When Colo-Colo's Manolito Neira in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye San Lorenzo's goalie prevented a goal. Celestino Toro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marino Sadin having to interfere. Colo-Colo made a substitution. Florentino Manterola replaced Marcos Francisco Aguayo. Colo-Colo's José Maria Baquero was substituted for Miguel Riffo. Marino Sadin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Celedonio Cordareo went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. In the 92nd minute, Colo-Colo's Alexis Ardizzoni dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. Alexis Ardizzoni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Colo-Colo walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
