Telo Nunez started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute Jerry Fristedt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Perpiñán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting Burgas's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jerry Fristedt 9 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Álvaro Perpiñán took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Fristedt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Fristedt in the 25th minute of play forced Sporting Burgas's goalkeeper Álvaro Perpiñán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kenny Liljeström's late challenge caught a Sporting Burgas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kenny Liljeström helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to VfL Wolfsburg getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Kenny Liljeström hit a great ball. Olle Tunander made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Galo Campos sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Sporting Burgas's Galo Campos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Olle Tunander. That made the score 6-2 after 91 minutes of play. VfL Wolfsburg walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
