Ramiro Rosado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Severino Herena made a huge save. In the 24th minute, Benito Licerio made a precise shot to the right of Serafim Mesquita. Várzea F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Serafim Mesquita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 64 minutes of play, Independiente's Primitivo Duarte made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Várzea F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. But to his dismay, Primitivo Duarte quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. The crowd rose to their feet as Leonel Ordono kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Serafim Mesquita. That made the score 0-6 in the 83 minute of play. In the 91st minute, Primitivo Duarte left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8.
