The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olly Nethercot in the 4th minute of play forced Abandon All Hope's goalkeeper Meng Yan Jing to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Abandon All Hope's Jan Pająk got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 8th minute Olly Nethercot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Meng Yan Jing saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roland Schiavi hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 12th match minute, Abandon All Hope was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fu Wei Di to maneuver through the defense. If Greg Bastow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Club Atlético de Newell booed when Abandon All Hope was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Schiavi didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the game, Club Atlético de Newell's Olly Nethercot nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Meng Yan Jing made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 39 minutes into the match, Johnny Burns notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Abandon All Hope's Meng Yan Jing. Meng Yan Jing was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Meng Yan Jing showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olly Nethercot, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. A collision led to Abandon All Hope getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Yao Xiang Zheng hit a great ball. Matthieu Abelard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emil Dunajski in the 47th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Jan Pająk made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomasz Cipinski in the 52nd minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Matthieu Abelard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 52 minutes into the game, Abandon All Hope's Tomasz Cipinski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matthieu Abelard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Johnny Burns managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético de Newell's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnny Burns was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Meng Yan Jing breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute, Fausto Nazzaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antoni Adamowicz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Matthieu Abelard. Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Matthieu Abelard made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Emil Dunajski sent off a good shot on target. 73 minutes into the match, Abandon All Hope's goal looked a bit too open when Olly Nethercot came free, but Meng Yan Jing reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atlético de Newell were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after Abandon All Hope's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Olly Nethercot took the corner. Antoni Adamowicz thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Meng Yan Jing, a very annoying self made goal in the 74th minute which led to 3-1. Matthieu Abelard made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Tomasz Cipinski sent off a good shot on target. In the 85th minute, Emil Dunajski left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Abandon All Hope fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomasz Cipinski in the 89th minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Matthieu Abelard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Johnny Burns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Atlético de Newell's Matthieu Abelard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Pająk in the 94th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Abandon All Hope's zone, Johnny Burns stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Meng Yan Jing came out of the goal and Johnny Burns tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Club Atlético de Newell's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
