In the 4thth minute of the game Arí Terra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 7 minutes of play, GRÊMIO's Arí Terra made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tautvydas Mickevičius was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tautvydas Mickevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ettore Gaeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12th minute, Ettore Gaeta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arí Terra in the 15th minute of play. Tautvydas Mickevičius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arí Terra in the 16th minute of play. In the 18th minute Liu Feng Guang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tautvydas Mickevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers André Monclús in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Miguel saved GRÊMIO from getting behind. Tautvydas Mickevičius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ettore Gaeta, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Tautvydas Mickevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liu Feng Guang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute Arí Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tautvydas Mickevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tautvydas Mickevičius stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Liu Feng Guang's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the game, Constantino Quinton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GRÊMIO the free kick. In the 24th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Quinton to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Constantino Quinton got a free kick in the 26th minute. Tautvydas Mickevičius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liu Feng Guang in the 29th minute of the match. After some careless play in the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA defense, Ettore Gaeta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tautvydas Mickevičius. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tautvydas Mickevičius should have stopped the shot. In the 36th minute Liu Feng Guang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tautvydas Mickevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of GRÊMIO booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genaro Mercurio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 38 played minutes, GRÊMIO's Tyson Touro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tautvydas Mickevičius came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in GRÊMIO reached it. A collision led to GRÊMIO getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Lino da Costa hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Ettore Gaeta came free, but Tautvydas Mickevičius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when André Monclús made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Lino da Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GRÊMIO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA the free kick. In the 52nd match minute, GRÊMIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lino da Costa to maneuver through the defense. Arí Terra received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tautvydas Mickevičius came out and tried to block the shot, but Arí Terra slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 54th minute. After 57 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Cordero. Tautvydas Mickevičius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Gai in the 59th minute of play. In the 63rd minute Liu Feng Guang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tautvydas Mickevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Edmundo Pirani fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GRÊMIO's protests and gave Edmundo Pirani a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th minute of the match Vicente Txomin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Miguel skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Monclús in the 75th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Carlos Miguel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ettore Gaeta took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tautvydas Mickevičius. Tautvydas Mickevičius dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Carlos Miguel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Monclús, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Monclús scored 1-6 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Miguel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Genaro Mercurio hit a great ball. In the 95th minute Ettore Gaeta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tautvydas Mickevičius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over GRÊMIO could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA throughout the match.
