The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Misericordia EC's Wágner Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Holin Probohudono in the 5th minute of play. In the 7thth minute of the game Holin Probohudono who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Misericordia EC's Wágner Ribeiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. PHOENIX SC were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Misericordia EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lucky Sihite took the corner. PHOENIX SC's Lucky Sihite was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wágner Ribeiro in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Wágner Ribeiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Holin Probohudono's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. In the 11th match minute, Misericordia EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Eduardo Amaral to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute Bob Dinamite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurniawan Bisri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Bob Dinamite could shoot a difficult shot in the 15th minute, which Kurniawan Bisri however easily saved by the left post. Wágner Ribeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Holin Probohudono, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute PHOENIX SC were awarded a corner. Lucky Sihite went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led PHOENIX SC's Lucky Sihite to fire away a dangerous shot which Wágner Ribeiro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Wágner Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Holin Probohudono in the 25th minute of the match. Holin Probohudono received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Wágner Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute of the match Misericordia EC got a corner. PHOENIX SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bob Dinamite ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Aras Pandiangan fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX SC's protests and gave Aras Pandiangan a yellow card for diving instead. Aras Pandiangan hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. PHOENIX SC's Holin Probohudono got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kamarudin Simatupang struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Wágner Ribeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PHOENIX SC. Kurniawan Bisri made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bob Chute in the 46th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Kurniawan Bisri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valério Peres in the 59th minute of play. After 65 minutes Misericordia EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lucky Sihite who took care of the corner kick. Bob Fenomeno tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Wágner Ribeiro. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-1 in the 65th minute. In the 70th minute Zico Matamoros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kurniawan Bisri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Bob Chute's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kurniawan Bisri was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Wágner Ribeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Holin Probohudono in the 74th minute. If Bob Chute had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. PHOENIX SC were awarded a corner in the 81th minute after Misericordia EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lucky Sihite took the corner. A hard shot 87 in the game by Kamarudin Simatupang from a close distance when the talented Wágner Ribeiro managed to make a qualified save. Misericordia EC's players were relieved. When Genta Durahman came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the PHOENIX SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Genta Durahman couldn't finish the play. The supporters of PHOENIX SC booed when Misericordia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Eduardo Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball.
