Zbyszko Makarewicz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 6th minute, Adalberto Amaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 7 minutes into the game, Pedro Espírito Santo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gremio Viana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Gdansk36 the free kick. A collision led to Gremio Viana getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Pedro Espírito Santo hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Piotr Kozlowski got free with Vicente Paixão in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adelino Lopes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zbyszko Makarewicz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gremio Viana's zone, Przemyslaw Czerniejewski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Paixão came out of the goal and Przemyslaw Czerniejewski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute, Adelino Lopes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Carlos Luna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zbyszko Makarewicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Luna in the 18th minute of play. Gremio Viana's José Ventura quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Witomir Debowski, made in the 21st minute of the game. Carlos Luna might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zbyszko Makarewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Luna ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Luna in the 22nd minute of play forced FC Gdansk36's goalkeeper Zbyszko Makarewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Gdansk36 booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lourenço Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Przemyslaw Czerniejewski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Gdansk36's supporters crossed their fingers, but Przemyslaw Czerniejewski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Witomir Debowski charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Witomir Debowski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Witomir Debowski kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Luna to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Carlos Luna left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gremio Viana fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. FC Gdansk36's Robert Marchefka got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Luna might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zbyszko Makarewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Luna ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Luna succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 68th playminute. Carlos Luna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lourenço Passos kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Zbyszko Makarewicz was a little too slow when Carlos Luna got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-4. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Gdansk36's goalkeeper Zbyszko Makarewicz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zbyszko Makarewicz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Luna's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. When the match was over Gremio Viana could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Gdansk36 throughout the match.
