In the 2nd match minute, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douglas Botelho to maneuver through the defense. Joel Catarinense might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arthur Bufi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joel Catarinense ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Galo do Japi's Arthur Bufi threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Catarinense, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The throw-in from Douglas Botelho in the 5th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Galo do Japi's Gernando Gomes. 6 minutes into the match, Galo do Japi's Joel Catarinense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arthur Bufi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 7 minutes into the match, Gerardo Ibar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Delfim Chaves. Galo do Japi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerardo Ibar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! After 10 minutes of play, Galo do Japi's Falcão Duarte made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arthur Bufi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gernando Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Delfim Chaves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 余永川's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isidro Ferman in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Delfim Chaves saved Galo do Japi from getting behind. Delfim Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidro Ferman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Cristi Saron got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Delfim Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 余永川, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Isidro Ferman hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Joel Catarinense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arthur Bufi having to make a save. Arthur Bufi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Catarinense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube defense, Joel Catarinense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arthur Bufi. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arthur Bufi should have stopped the shot. In the 35th minute, Galo do Japi's Joel Catarinense ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arthur Bufi. Arthur Bufi yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hélder Lara during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Galo do Japi booed when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Galo do Japi's Falcão Duarte got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Delfim Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwidon Cwojdak in the 46th minute of the match. After 47 minutes, Dagoberto Vieira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube and the Galo do Japi players grew even worse after the yellow card.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gwidon Cwojdak was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Catarinense came free, but Arthur Bufi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Delfim Chaves made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when 余永川 sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Gerardo Ibar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerardo Ibar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delfim Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Delfim Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 余永川 in the 63rd minute of play. Adelino Simão made in the 72nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Olavo Quadros however managed to control. In the 74th match minute, Galo do Japi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelinho Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute 余永川 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Galo do Japi's Delfim Chaves got control of the ball when Gerardo Ibar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 83rd play minute 余永川 came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Delfim Chaves. 3-2. In the 86th match minute, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristi Saron to maneuver through the defense. Arthur Bufi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falcão Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In the 90th minute Ronaldo Joinvilense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Bufi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Galo do Japi's Ronaldo Joinvilense got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Galo do Japi's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
