The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Glasgow Rangers FC's Quintin Manrique managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Christopher Sjögren in the 2 minute of the game. Pedrinho Figueiredo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 18th match minute, Tribos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christopher Sjögren to maneuver through the defense. Adélio Pinhal charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adélio Pinhal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marcello Lewandowski might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ferdinando Andreoli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edvin van der Saar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fulvio Di Federico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kacper Fetor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
