Ricardo Benat started the match with the kick off. Geoff Hahn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Prospero Matxin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. River tu grato nombre's supporters rose to their feet, but Stacey Eason was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Prospero Matxin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13th minute, Ricardo Benat ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joey Bush was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience was convinced that Stacey Eason's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Prospero Matxin was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. After some careless play in the River tu grato nombre defense, Ricardo Benat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joey Bush. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stacey Eason was the one to do the kick off. Prospero Matxin came out of the goal and Stacey Eason tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Prospero Matxin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stacey Eason in the 56th minute of play. Joey Bush made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Ricardo Benat sent off a good shot on target. 59 minutes into the match, River tu grato nombre's goal looked a bit too open when Baltasar Millano came free, but Joey Bush reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 59 minutes, Kraig Rasmussen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River tu grato nombre and the 17 de enero team players grew even worse after the yellow card. River tu grato nombre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geoff Hahn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joey Bush made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matias Leguizamón in the 83rd minute. The supporters of River tu grato nombre booed when 17 de enero team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matias Leguizamón didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the 17 de enero team players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for River tu grato nombre.
