The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Remedios SC's Jarbas Corrêa got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Academia FC's Constantino Rodriguez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jean dos Santos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, Mario Rivero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jean dos Santos. Remedios SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mario Rivero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Danilo Pinho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Angel Etxeberri when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 38th minute of the match Remedios SC got a corner. Academia FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aloísio Bastos ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Remedios SC's Aloísio Bastos to fire away a dangerous shot which Angel Etxeberri despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jean dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Rivero, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. A collision led to Remedios SC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Zé Augusto Sena hit a great ball. 45 minutes into the match, Válter Fantini had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Angel Etxeberri. Academia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Válter Fantini was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.

The long shot by Uriel Isidor in the 54th minute really tested Jean dos Santos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 61st minute, Fausto Argider got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute Válter Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel Etxeberri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute Zé Augusto Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel Etxeberri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Angel Etxeberri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 69 played minutes Academia FC got a freekick which was hit by Delmiro Quico. After 71 played minutes Academia FC got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Argider. Mario Rivero struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Jean dos Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia FC. Academia FC's Angel Etxeberri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Pinho in the 76th minute of play. 77 minutes into the game, Remedios SC's Danilo Pinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Angel Etxeberri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. A collision led to Academia FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Delmiro Quico hit a great ball. Angel Etxeberri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válter Fantini in the 86th minute of play. When Afonsinho Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Remedios SC's protests and gave Afonsinho Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Academia FC booed when Remedios SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonsinho Brodel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd match minute, Academia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Rodriguez to maneuver through the defense. Academia FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
