If Celsinho Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 19 played minutes Mexilhão F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Willian Rosa. 20 minutes into the match, Celsinho Xavier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luisão Seco. Mexilhão F. C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Celsinho Xavier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Mexilhão F. C.'s Luisão Seco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Meireles in the 26th minute of play. Silvério de Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Mauro Meireles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fala Sério FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After 38 minutes of play, Fala Sério FC's Mauro Meireles made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mauro Meireles was the one to do the kick off. William Papin charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed William Papin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th minute, Celsinho Xavier made a precise shot to the right of Luisão Seco. Mexilhão F. C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Loureiro in the 60th minute of play forced Fala Sério FC's goalkeeper Celso Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
