An unexpectedly hard shot by Val Lowery in the 10th minute of play forced Gesteira's goalkeeper Wellington Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Val Lowery in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wellington Barbosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 15th minute, Virgil Gaines made a precise shot to the right of Wellington Barbosa. Gesteira's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Denílson Ramalho hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Osvaldo Dunlap took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wellington Barbosa. Gesteira's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Valério Botelho hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match.
