Spectators: 7455 (Terracing: 5592, Seating: 1714, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio FBPA from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Rui Varela got control of the ball when Mario Kusko tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Dino Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mario Kusko to make the kick off. Ovidio Constancio kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Jorge Osoitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dino Castro in the 59th minute of the match. Rui Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jesus Peli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Grêmio FBPA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Grêmio FBPA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
