Spectators: 7565 (Terracing: 5675, Seating: 1739, VIP seats: 151) Jamar Burton started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Thomas in the 5th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Jim Mitchell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 6 minutes Santos FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andrew Thomas who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Clapham Comets F.C.'s Andrew Thomas to fire away a dangerous shot which Jim Mitchell despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jim Mitchell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrew Thomas, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After a rather tough play, Santos FC's Pedro Finn got a free kick in the 13th minute. Sebastian Cross took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jamar Burton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Gerry Roebuck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Santos FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Benito Hyde hit a great ball. Rusty Little hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. J.P. Delarosa kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Thomas in the 24th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Jim Mitchell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrew Thomas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jim Mitchell came out and tried to block the shot, but Andrew Thomas slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goalkeeper Jim Mitchell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andrew Thomas. In the 28th minute, Clapham Comets F.C.'s Andrew Thomas dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 33rd minute Clapham Comets F.C. were awarded a corner. Andrew Thomas went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Andrew Thomas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jim Mitchell quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sammy Le Tissier kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. When Andrew Thomas came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Clapham Comets F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andrew Thomas couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Andrew Thomas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jim Mitchell. That made the score 3-0 in the 39 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

51 minutes into the match, Sammy Le Tissier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jim Mitchell. Santos FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sammy Le Tissier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. When Sammy Le Tissier came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Clapham Comets F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sammy Le Tissier couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute, Sammy Le Tissier made a precise shot to the right of Jim Mitchell. Santos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. 69 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Chip Preece came free, but Jim Mitchell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jim Mitchell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brad Symons in the 75th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Chip Preece managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clapham Comets F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Chip Preece was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jim Mitchell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th minute Andrew Thomas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Mitchell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santos FC's Jim Mitchell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrew Thomas in the 87th minute of play. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Santos FC! After 97 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by J.P. Delarosa. There was no doubt that Clapham Comets F.C. were the better team. Clapham Comets F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
