Elodio Angellotti made a fantastic save in the 2nd minute, when Tiburcio Jenaro sent off a good shot on target. Saturnino Troncoso hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. If Ian Gillan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barni San Martín in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lino Bembe saved ROJO from getting behind. The supporters of Inter de Chillán booed when ROJO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Diegotxe didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barni San Martín in the 24th minute of play forced ROJO's goalkeeper Lino Bembe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lino Bembe came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Chillán's Barni San Martín. But to his dismay, Barni San Martín quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of ROJO booed when Inter de Chillán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Gillan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Bizi in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elodio Angellotti prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the game, Bairon Bernales was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Inter de Chillán's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ROJO the free kick. 41 minutes into the game, Inter de Chillán's Barni San Martín nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lino Bembe made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Lino Bembe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barni San Martín in the 47th minute of play. ROJO made a substitution. Edelmiro Dolfos replaced Tiburcio Jenaro. After 50 minutes ROJO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Francisco Lacunza who took care of the corner kick. Ian Gillan kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Felix Bizi to make the kick off. ROJO's Lino Bembe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save ROJO from getting a goal against them. In the 62nd minute, Francisco Lacunza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edelmiro Dolfos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elodio Angellotti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Bizi, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Lino Bembe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barni San Martín in the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th match minute, ROJO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Bizi to maneuver through the defense. Lino Bembe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Lacunza in the 72nd minute. Francisco Lacunza's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Lino Bembe skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Inter de Chillán's Elodio Angellotti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Salvino in the 73rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Bizi in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elodio Angellotti saved Inter de Chillán from getting behind. In the 85th minute Edelmiro Dolfos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elodio Angellotti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Lacunza got free with Lino Bembe in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lino Bembe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barni San Martín in the 87th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inter de Chillán's Barni San Martín got a free kick in the 90th minute. If Francisco Lacunza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Lacunza during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the match was over Inter de Chillán could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than ROJO throughout the match.
