Inter de Chillán's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barni San Martín was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barni San Martín in the 15th minute of play forced IFK Kik's goalkeeper Håkan Botvidsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Barni San Martín hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to IFK Kik getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Ludwig Överman hit a great ball. Håkan Botvidsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barni San Martín in the 22nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Sixten Lund's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elodio Angellotti was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Håkan Botvidsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barni San Martín in the 32nd minute of play. With his leg Håkan Botvidsson managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Inter de Chillán's Juan Luis Alfaro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Inter de Chillán booed when IFK Kik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennart Vallman didn't get a good kick on the ball. IFK Kik's Håkan Botvidsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save IFK Kik from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

In the 59th match minute, Inter de Chillán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barni San Martín to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Inter de Chillán's Elodio Angellotti got control of the ball when Alf Svartengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Håkan Botvidsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 83rd minute Sixten Lund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elodio Angellotti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. IFK Kik's Håkan Botvidsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Luis Alfaro in the 90th minute of play. Elodio Angellotti came out of the goal and Börge Lidman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the IFK Kik players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Inter de Chillán.
