The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alfred Ruohonen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicodim Arghirescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Nichifor Ogică received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Sulo Lahtela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Alfred Ruohonen could shoot a difficult shot in the 10th minute, which Nicodim Arghirescu however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pietari Jaakkola in the 12th minute of play forced Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Nicodim Arghirescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Pietari Jaakkola had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicodim Arghirescu. Carpathian Wolves's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pietari Jaakkola was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Codrin Aalexoaiei hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Carpathian Wolves's zone, Alfred Ruohonen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicodim Arghirescu came out of the goal and Alfred Ruohonen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 23 minutes into the game, Alfred Ruohonen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Nicodim Arghirescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sulo Lahtela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nichifor Ogică, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Carpathian Wolves getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Ionică Alb hit a great ball. In the 30th minute, Roger Duggan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kalevi Kiprusoff in the 31st minute of play forced Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Nicodim Arghirescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 56 minutes of play, Kultapossukerho's Pietari Jaakkola made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicodim Arghirescu was left in no man's land by his defense there!
